Letter	Dear Representative I am writing to ask that you vote to approve the Great Lakes Compact this year. Comprising 90 percent of the fresh surface water of North America, the Great Lakes are truly a national treasure. Although the Great Lakes are vast, they are also vulnerable. Large-scale diversions of their waters to other regions could irreversibly damage the Lakes’ ecology and much of the fishing, boating, and beaches that have blessed the region for more than a century. The Compact would bar the siphoning of Great Lakes water to other regions or countries, and require Midwestern states to adopt conservation and efficiency as well. The U.S. Senate has already approved this sound agreement. Please ensure that the House follows suit without delay. Sincerely,
