To save the Land and Water Conservation Fund, Zinke urged to ‘get with the program’

America’s top public lands official supported the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) before. It’s time for him to save it now.

In October, Environment America Research & Policy Center launched a monthlong drive to persuade Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to use his influence to get the LWCF reauthorized, restoring a program that has funded protection of public lands across the country for more than 50 years. We’re asking residents to display 150 lawn signs in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, D.C.

“Secretary Zinke vociferously supported the LWCF as a Montana congressman, but as Secretary of the Interior he has defended a Trump budget that nearly zeroes out LWCF funding,” said Emma Shumway, a conservation associate with our national network. “It’s time for him to get with the program.”

Our network’s national conservation team is working with a bipartisan coalition in Congress to reauthorize the LWCF.
