Today Secretary Zinke announced his recommendation that President Trump consider reducing the size of the Bears Ears National Historic Monument.
Margie Alt, Executive Director of Environment America, released the following statement:

“The 1,000,000+ acres of Bears Ears are critical to wildlife, great for hiking and other outdoor recreation, and they are home to numerous antiquities and places sacred to native populations. Secretary Zinke and the President should do all they can to permanently protect this spectacular place.  That’s why Environment America and our members will continue to do all we can to convince the Administration that some places, like Bears Ears, are too special to allow for drilling or mining or other destructive behavior.”
