Plaudits for Boulder White Clouds Wilderness Area

Environment America

WASHINGTON, DC – Boulder-White Clouds in central Idaho will become the nation’s latest protected wilderness area, thanks to a measure unanimously adopted by the U.S. Senate today that has already cleared the House. The measure, which safeguards 275,000 acres of headwaters, jagged peaks, and wildlife habitat, now heads to the desk of President Obama, who’s certain to sign it. Margie Alt, executive director of Environment America, issued the following statement:

“Boulder-White Clouds is one of the last best wild places in North America. It’s fantastic to see the entire Congress united to protect these beloved and rugged mountains for today and generations to come. We urge Congress to support protections for more of our nation’s most treasured landscapes, from the Grand Canyon to the Arctic.”
