Washington, D.C. – Earlier this week, Secretary Jewell demonstrated her support for the nation’s premiere program for protecting our country’s public lands – the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

While announcing the allocation of more than $40 million in LWCF funding for local outdoor recreation projects in all 50 states, Secretary Jewell reiterated the importance of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and recommitted her support for fully funding the program to “help create outstanding outdoor spaces for all people from all backgrounds to enjoy sports and recreation close to home.”

Environment America’s preservation advocate Aaron Weil applauded Secretary Jewell’s commitment to the Land and Water Conservation Fund:

“Environment America is extremely encouraged to see Secretary Jewell demonstrate her support for one of the most successful program designed to protect our parks and wildlife habitat, the Land and Water Conservation Fund.  We look forward to continue working with her to ensure full and dedicated funding for this critical program.”
