As a clean energy advocate, it’s clear to me that the energy revolution is charging forward. According to the International Energy Agency’s Renewables 2019 report, “Renewable power capacity is set to expand by 50 percent between 2019 and 2024, led by solar PV.” Over the last decade, renewable energy technologies have grown at a faster clip than many experts predicted. According to the Energy Information Agency (EIA), the U.S. produced 17 times the amount of solar energy in 2018 than was predicted by the agency just six years previously.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released two proposals today to roll back clean water protections against waste from coal-fired power plants. The first proposal would overhaul wastewater rules, drastically weakening safeguards that prevent utilities from discharging toxic pollutants like arsenic, lead and mercury into America’s waterways.

Environment Florida and other environmental groups from up and down the East Coast, including Defenders of Wildlife and Whale & Dolphin Conservation, presented Rep.John Rutherford with an award Saturday at the Right Whale Festival in Fernandina Beach, Fla. The award highlighted Rutherford’s work to protect the highly-endangered North Atlantic Right Whale.
