Tax credits and a rebate program for solar panels, heat pumps, home weatherization, and more

Alaskans of all income levels will have an opportunity to improve the efficiency of their homes in the next few years by using either a rebate program or tax credits.

To start, tax credits are already available for solar panels, heat pumps, battery storage systems, electric vehicles, and more.

Soon, rebate programs will be available for efficient appliances, electrification, and weatherization efforts.  The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) will administer the Home Efficiency Rebate Program and the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate Program for Alaska. They’re currently working on the application. AHFC plans to start taking applications from families for the rebate program in the last few months of 2024.
