Home solar installations increased at double the rate of the rest of the state after these jurisdictions switched to automated permitting.
A new study found that automated permitting in Tucson and Pima County has made rooftop solar installations faster and cheaper, saving costs for consumers and local governments.
According to data compiled by Ohm Analytics and released by Permit Power, in the two years since Pima County and Tucson switched to automated permitting using SolarAPP+, home solar installations increased at double the rate of the rest of the state. Since SolarAPP+ was first implemented in 2020, more than 240 jurisdictions have signed up for the platform, and more are joining every month.
“Broader adoption of SolarAPP+ will help America realize our rooftop solar potential,” said Johanna Neumann, Senior Director, Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy, Environment America Research & Policy Center. “Every sunny roof without solar panels is a missed opportunity.”
