City of Tempe Passes 100 Percent Renewable Energy Goal

TEMPE – On Thursday night, the Tempe City Council approved a resolution committing the city to 100 percent renewable energy by 2035. 
 
The resolution also sets a goal for Tempe to be carbon neutral by 2050. Both goals cover just municipal energy use in city buildings and facilities.
 
The council voted 4-3 to pass the resolution, with Mayor Mark Mitchell and Councilmembers Lauren Kuby, Randy Keating and David Schapira in support.
