Urge Pepsi’s CEO to commit to meaningful plastic reduction
Pepsi CEO Ramon Laguarta,
I am writing to express my disappointment in Pepsi’s recently revised packaging sustainability goals, especially the company’s abandonment of its reuse target. When Pepsi made these goals in 2021, it established itself as a leader in the push to end plastic pollution. But by failing to maintain its commitments and deciding to back out of meaningful sustainability goals, the company has lost credibility.
By one estimate, Pepsi is the second largest corporate producer of plastic waste in the world. Plastic often takes centuries to break down, meaning Pepsi-branded products will be littering the streets and polluting the oceans for generations.
I’m urging you to consider Pepsi’s legacy and prioritize plastic packaging reduction.
