Alaska Environment, Environment America endorse re-election of U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska Environment and its national office Environment America announced Thursday that they are endorsing the re-election of U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola, who took office in September after winning an election to replace recently deceased Rep. Don Young.
Peltola campaigned on the motto “Fish, Family, and Freedom,” with fish conservation as a cornerstone. Her website says Alaska needs healthy salmon runs and that “fighting for our fish is critical to preserving our Alaska way of life.”
“Alaskans made clear this summer that they want Mary Peltola to represent us in Washington and she deserves a full term,” said Alaska Environment State Director Dyani Chapman. “Her stand on the environment was a strong selling point. All Alaskans will benefit from her pragmatic outlook in support of sustainable fishing, permanent protections for Bristol Bay and climate change solutions ‘as large as the problems we face.’”
