In Pennsylvania, Environment America Action Fund (EAAF) has been conducting voter registration, voter persuasion and turnout programs in 2022.

EAAF helped 4,428 Pennsylvanians register to vote with in-person, site-based and college campus programs in the City of Philadelphia, in the suburban collar counties surrounding Philadelphia, and in Allegheny County, home to Pittsburgh.

In addition, this summer, EAAF ran a door-to-door canvassing program in the Philadelphia suburbs to identify voters who would support state Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s gubernatorial campaign and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s U.S. Senate campaign and encourage them to vote. EAAF staff knocked on 71,954 doors, which led to 10,340 conversations with target voters and ID-ing 9,036 voters likely to vote for these candidates in crucial races.

Continuing into the fall, EAAF has been conducting further “get out the vote” (GOTV) canvassing programs in both the Philadelphia suburbs and Allegheny County.

Furthermore, EAAF has provided support for U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, a proven environmental champion, in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. In this case, EAAF is phoning infrequent and semi-frequent voters to identify voter preferences and then help them make a plan to vote.
