As two closely-watched senators considered how to vote on critical clean energy policies, Environment Arizona gave them 24,890 reasons to think big.

On Sept. 30, Environment Arizona delivered petitions to Sens. Krysten Sinema and Mark Kelly on behalf of more than 24,890 Arizonans, urging the senators to make significant clean energy investments. The petition delivery came as Congress debated the Build Back Better Act, which would expand solar and wind power, reduce pollution from the electricity sector, and help Americans buy electric vehicles and make energy-efficient home upgrades.

“A future powered by renewable energy is within reach,” said Johanna Neumann, 100% Renewable Energy campaign director for our national network. “Senator Sinema and Senator Kelly have the power to help lay a strong foundation for a renewable energy future.”

As Congress decided the details of the Build Back Better proposal, many observers cited Sens. Sinema and Kelly as keys to the fate of clean energy and climate provisions.
