Clean energy

The transition to clean, renewable solar and wind power is accelerating in America. Now efforts are underway to speed it up even more.

On Feb. 3, 12 of our state environmental groups launched campaigns for 100% renewable energy. Already, our national network has helped bring the number of states committed to 100% clean energy up to nine. Now, we’re urging states from Texas to Connecticut to get on the road to 100% renewable.

“The sooner states commit to 100% renewable energy, the sooner we will eliminate pollution that makes our kids sick and dangerously warms our planet,” said Johanna Neumann, senior director of Environment America’s Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy. “Setting the course to 100% renewable energy should top the to-do list for lawmakers in 2022.”

In 2020, America generated almost four times as much renewable electricity from the sun and the wind as in 2011, according to the most recent version of our Renewables on the Rise report.
