Baby beaver sighting — a cause for celebration

For the first time in potentially "more than a century," a beaver colony has set up shop south of San Francisco Bay.

Not the beaver featured in the story.

Surprising and at first confounding the wildlife expert who saw the footage, a baby beaver was caught on camera south of San Francisco Bay.

Why is this great news? Here are a few of the many reasons.

One, a beaver colony hadn’t set up shop in the area in decades, if not more than a century.

Two, by creating wetlands, beavers are climate champions.

Three, these little creatures enhance and restore whole ecosystems for other wildlife. Wetlands are hotspots for biodiversity.

Check out the video (plus the full story) on this beaver family in the article from the Los Angeles Times, which covered it in depth.
