Tell Gov. Newsom: Protect California’s coast
California's coastline is a true treasure. Tell Gov. Newsom to protect our kelp forests and the ocean life that call them home.
Elected officials, environmental groups, and more come together to celebrate action on plastic pollution.
In June of this year, California took a major step towards holding polluters accountable and reducing single-use plastic pollution by passing the Plastic Pollution Producer Responsibility Act (SB 54). With this new law in place, plastic producers and manufacturers across the state must significantly reduce their production of single-use plastic foodware and other plastic packaging.
Additionally, the law mandates that plastic producers take ownership for the plastic that ends up littering our streets, clogging our landfills and polluting our ocean. California’s wildlife is now one step closer to a plastic-free habitat.
To celebrate this achievement for our ocean and communities, and make sure California continues to lead in putting wildlife over waste, we’re bringing together state and local leaders, environmental and community groups, and supporters for an event at Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza on Oct. 23 at 2:00 p.m.
What to look forward to:
California's coastline is a true treasure. Tell Gov. Newsom to protect our kelp forests and the ocean life that call them home.
