According to our “Safe for Swimming?” report, roughly one-half of U.S. beaches had potentially unsafe contamination levels on one or more days in 2022. And swimmers are getting sick. Each year, there are an estimated 57 million cases of illness in the U.S. resulting from swimming in oceans, lakes, rivers and ponds.

We’re calling on the governor to deploy the funding, rules and enforcement to clean up our state’s waters and make our beaches safe for swimming.
