Solar energy poised to surge

Solar is poised for explosive growth over the next several years while wind continues to expand, according to data just released by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Utility-scale solar and wind each generated significantly more new capacity than gas so far this year, according to newly-released EIA data. Renewables provided almost 71% of new capacity in the first ten months of 2022.

“America’s renewable energy resources could power our nation many times over,” said Johanna Neumann, Senior Director of Environment America’s Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy. “The rapid growth of wind and solar should give leaders the confidence to set their sights on a future powered entirely by renewable energy.”
