Governor Polis calls for stronger action on air pollution
Colorado's governor points out the need for Colorado "to do more to reduce emissions from oil and gas operations."
Governor Polis has sent a letter to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) and Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) outlining a plan to tackle pollution from the oil and gas extraction industry.
As the governor points out, “oil and gas extraction activities are responsible for almost half of total ozone in the Denver metro area” and he has set a new goal to cut nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions from oil and gas activities by 30% by 2025 and 50% by 2030.
