The Tampa Bay Youth Ocean Summit is coming
Students will learn about our oceans greatest threats and how to protect them at the Tampa Bay Youth Ocean Summit coming to St. Petersburg this fall.

Sometimes inspiration hits like a bolt of lightning. You take a picture in the forest and capture the beauty of a place so clearly that everyone can feel it when they look at your photo. You realize I want to be a photographer. My photos might save this forest.
Sometimes it’s a slow creep. You read an article about how plastic fills the bellies of animals that live in our oceans, and contaminates our blood. It gets you thinking and sometimes days, even months go by until it influences your actions.
Events like the upcoming Tampa Bay Youth Ocean Summit are the birthplaces of such inspiration. It’s an event where you can learn to make real change in the world, and in your own life.

If it thrills you to see a newly hatched sea turtle make its first perilous crawl towards the waves, this event is for you. If the mysteries that lie within our disappearing coral reefs captivate you, come. If you’re ready to lift your voice and take action so that Florida leaders will stop and listen, this is your day.
Environment Florida has a goal of educating and empowering college students at one remarkable ocean event. With the help of researchers, advocates, students and environmental leaders from all over the state, we will bring the latest information on the threats that face our coastal waters to Eckerd College in St. Petersburg this fall. Armed with that knowledge, attendees will learn about the power to create change through advocacy. They’ll hear success stories and leave with tools that will empower them to bring change to their schools and communities.
Everybody needs the ocean, and the ocean needs the efforts of everyone; I hope that attendees of the Youth Ocean Summit feel compelled and prepared to restore and maintain what is Earth's most valuable resource.Reaghan Ard
