WHAT: More than two dozen organizations in Tampa Bay will rally for the Tampa People’s Climate March to raise awareness about climate change and its regional impacts, and to provide avenues for people to take action.

Participants will unite in support of Tampa committing to 100% clean, renewable energy. Tampa is one of the most at risk cities in the world from climate change. As the third-largest city in the state, Tampa is in a unique position to push Florida forward on climate change adaptation and mitigation. The People’s Climate March in Tampa will be one of many marches held in solidarity with the People’s Climate March in D.C. on the same day.
Local elected officials including Hillsborough County Commissioner Pat Kemp and members of frontline communities most at risk from the effects of climate change will kick-off the rally in Lykes Gaslight park. Participants will then write letters and gather petition signatures urging local decision makers to commit Tampa to 100% clean energy. Finally, the demonstration will move to MacDill Park, which will host local art installations and climate science exhibits.
