Statement: Chattahoochee River Act is a big win for clean water

ATLANTA – U.S. Reps. Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), Nikema Williams (GA-05) Hank Johnson (GA-04),  Lucy McBath (GA-06) and Rep. David Scott (GA-13) released legislation last week that supports efforts to improve water quality in the Chattahoochee River. The Chattahoochee River Act, which mirrors similar legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate by Sens. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, would facilitate and help fund restoration efforts along the river. 

In response to the announcement,  Environment Georgia’s clean water associate Jennifer Duenas issued the following statement:

“The Chattahoochee River provides drinking water, beautiful scenery, recreational opportunities and critical habitat for so many in Georgia and Alabama. We applaud the introduction of the Chattahoochee River Act by Reps. Bourdeaux, Johnson, McBath, Scott and Williams and are grateful for the bill’s forward-looking framework of cooperation and conservation. This act will go a long way toward helping improve and protect this great river from threats like climate change and biodiversity loss.”

ATLANTA – Estados Unidos Esta semana, las representantes estadounidenses Carolyn Bourdeaux, Nikema Williams, David Scott, Hank Johnson, y Lucy McBath publicaron una legislación que apoya los esfuerzos para mejorar la calidad del agua en el Río Chattahoochee del estado de Georgia. La legislación del Río Chattahoochee que refleja una legislación similar que fue introducida en el senado de los EE.UU por los Senadores Raphael Warnock y Jon Ossoff, facilitaria y ayudaria a financiar los esfuerzos de restauración a lo largo del río.  

En respuesta al anuncio, La Associda de agua limpia de Environment Georgia, Jennifer Duenas emitió la siguiente declaración:
