Tell Georgia DNR: Stand up for Right whales
Dear Georgia Department of Natural Resources,
Four Right whales have already lost their lives due to boat strikes in 2024 alone. With fewer than 360 Right whales left on Earth, we cannot afford to lose even one more whale to vessel strikes.
Slowing boats down when and where Right whales spend time is the only proven way to reduce the risk of boat strikes. I urge you to support NOAA’s proposed vessel speed rule during your review. As our state marine mammal and one of our most at-risk whale species, it’s on us to do what we can, and supporting this rule is a step towards getting the Right whale population back on track.
It is not too late to save the Right whales, but we must take action now.
Sincerely,
