President Donald Trump announced today via Twitter that he has accepted the resignation of embattled Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt. In response, Christy Leavitt, the senior director of Environment America’s Campaign to Defend Our Environment released this statement:
The California Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy voted today to pass the landmark Senate Bill 100 (De León), which will ensure that California generates 100 percent of its electricity from renewable and zero-carbon sources by 2045.
This afternoon, the U.S. Senate passed a Farm Bill free of several anti-environmental provisions included in the House version by a vote of 86 to 11. Bart Johnsen-Harris, Clean Water Advocate for Environment America, issued the following statement:
As the Trump administration considers weakening federal air quality and global warming emissions standards, air pollution remains a threat to public health. According to a new report by Environment America Research & Policy Center, Frontier Group and U.S. PIRG Education Fund, 73 million Americans experienced over 100 days -- or more than three months -- of degraded air quality in 2016, increasing the risk of premature death, asthma attacks and other adverse health impacts.
