It’s important to protect our natural world

Anna Westbrook
Environment Illinois Protect Pollinators Intern

When I was 12, I complained to my mom over dinner about how little snow had fallen that winter. She explained the basics of climate change and how it affected whether or not there would be snow for me to play in. I was outraged. Now, my passion for combating climate change extends beyond my younger self’s desire to frolic in the snow, but that passion remains just as strong. I am currently a student at Allegheny College majoring in Environmental Science and Sustainability with a Concentration in Law & Policy and a double minor in Political Science and Journalism in the Public Interest. As an Environmental Illinois intern working on the Save the Bees campaign, I am excited to take steps toward protecting our natural world and creating healthy, vibrant lives for global citizens — humans, plants, and animals alike.
