The necessity of carving out a more sustainable future becomes ever more urgent

I am moved to contribute to Environment Illinois because I know that governmental policy is at the root of many of our environmental difficulties. Now that I am a grandparent, the necessity of carving out a more sustainable future becomes ever more urgent. Unfortunately, the past 70 years we have been wantonly dousing ourselves, our food supply and the environment with chemicals, including plastics, without understanding their long term effects. I don’t want my grandchildren to pay for our profligacy. This is an issue that affects every human being and should bring us together rather than split us apart.
