Breaking: Maine legislator introduces offshore drilling bill

Environment Maine

Statement from Carissa Maurin, state director of Environment Maine on legislation in Congress and Maine in opposition to the Trump administration’s offshore drilling plan:

“Today in Augusta, State House Representative Mick Devin introduced legislation that would ban offshore drilling in state waters as well as the onshore infrastructure that is needed to conduct these activities.”

“The reality, proven time and again, is that when we drill, we spill. Opening our coasts to offshore drilling would devastate our marine ecosystems and our way of life.”

“Sir Isaac Newton said that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is the equal and opposite reaction we’ve been waiting for. We’re sending a big thank you to Representative Mick Devin for his efforts to protect our coastal waters from offshore drilling.”
