Turning up the heat in our homes shouldn’t turn up pollution

Updated furnace energy efficiency standards will be a win for both consumers and the planet, saving money on energy bills while cutting back climate-harming pollution.

Strong new standards could cut average annual home heating bills for consumers replacing an inefficient furnace by about $60 per year. And updating the efficiency standard for gas furnaces will reduce energy use and cut greenhouse gas emissions — which means cleaner air for everyone and an important step in combating the climate crisis. I support the new, stronger energy efficiency standards for furnaces.
