Ask your state legislators to support the 100% Clean Act
When our communities run on renewable energy, our air will be cleaner, our families will be healthier, and we’ll help prevent the worst impacts of global warming.
If passed, the 100% Clean Act will codify a transition to 100 percent clean electricity by 2035 and 100 percent clean heating and transportation by 2045.
This week Johanna Neumann, the acting director of Environment Massachusetts, testified in support of An Act transitioning Massachusetts to clean electricity, heating and transportation, also known as The 100% Clean Act before the relevant legislative committees in the Massachusetts Senate and House. The legislation, (H.3689) is sponsored by Rep. Marjorie Decker and Rep. Sean Garballey.
If passed, the 100% Clean Act will codify a transition to 100 percent clean electricity by 2035 and 100 percent clean heating and transportation by 2045. This bill lays out clear requirements and actions for the Commonwealth to take to reach these objectives.
“Eleven other states have already committed to 100% clean electricity, including Maine and New York by 2040, Rhode Island by 2033,” said Neumann. “It’s time for Massachusetts to join the 100% club.”
