WASHINGTON, DC – TransCanada, the company sponsoring the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, has asked the White House to suspend review of its permit application, a request that if granted could push a decision on the pipeline to the next administration.
Environment America’s Anna Aurilio, director for the organization’s Global Warming Solutions program, issued the following statement:
“Thanks to years of citizen pressure to protect our waters, our forests, and the safety of our climate, TransCanada is losing, and now they’ve made a desperate request for a delay. But a delay won’t change the facts: one year or two years from now, Keystone XL will still accelerate global warming and threaten our communities. That’s why President Obama should reject this dirty pipeline once and for all.”
