Defend the Endangered Species Act as we know it
RE: Docket Number FWS-HQ-ES-2025-0034
For more than 50 years, the Endangered Species Act has been a pillar of conservation, protecting some of the country’s most iconic creatures from extinction.
But this proposed rule would change the definition of the word “harm” so that the ESA would no longer protect the habitat of threatened and endangered wildlife.
Habitat destruction is a form of harm. It impairs a species’ ability to breed, feed and find shelter, and is widely recognized as the primary cause of higher rates of extinction. Without prohibiting the destruction of habitat, the ESA cannot effectively keep a species safe from extinction.
The United States is a better place because of its biodiversity. Please help maintain this by protecting endangered species and their habitat.
