Environment New Hampshire Endorses Shea-Porter and Kuster for Congress and Obama for President

Environment New Hampshire announced its endorsements for the 2012 election season, shining a spotlight on key pro-environment candidates for Congress and the White House.

“When it comes to the air we breathe, the water we drink and the places we love, elections matter. Environment New Hampshire is proud to endorse Shea-Porter, Kuster and Obama who deserve our support as the right choices for voters who care about clean water, clean air, clean energy, solving global warming and protecting our most treasured natural spaces,” said Johanna Neumann, Regional Director for Environment New Hampshire.

Environment New Hampshire endorses the following candidates:

Carol Shea-Porter: Former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter has been a champion for New Hampshire’s environment, working to protect our Atlantic coast from offshore drilling and helping secure funding for open space like the Silvio O. Conte National Fish & Wildlife Refuge along New Hampshire’s Connecticut River. In addition to a 97% voting record on environmental issues while in Congress, Shea-Porter has been a leader and a fighter for building New Hampshire’s clean energy economy by working to pass a landmark climate and energy bill and promoting incentives for clean energy. Shea-Porter’s commitment to protecting our natural resources has more than earned her the support of Environment New Hampshire.”

Anne Kuster: Anne Kuster understands and values the importance of moving forward a clean energy economy and protecting New Hampshire’s valuable natural resources, from the Lakes Region to the White Mountains to the Seacoast. In addition to believing we should cap global warming pollution at levels dictated by science, she supports protecting places like Lake Winnipesaukee by restoring Clean Water Act protections to all our waterways and believes our national parks deserve sustained funding. Kuster will be a champion for New Hampshire’s environment in Congress. The choice between Rep. Charlie Bass and Anne Kuster could not be clearer and Environment New Hampshire is proud to endorse Anne Kuster.

President Barack Obama: President Obama has aggressively protected our families’ health by tackling pollution that threatens the quality of our air and our water. He has advanced policies to dramatically reduce our dependence on oil and has doubled the nation’s reliance on clean renewable energy. To move America toward a clean energy future, to protect our environment and health, and to ensure the U.S. does our part to combat global warming, President Barack Obama gets Environment New Hampshire’s enthusiastic support.

“With the polluter lobby spending insane amounts of campaign cash on this election it is more important than ever that Granite state voters support those candidates who share our environmental values and who will protect our air, our water, our special places and our families’ health,” said Neumann. “On November 6th the choice for New Hampshire and the planet is clear. We believe Carol Shea-Porter, Anne Kuster and Barack Obama deserve our vote.”
