It’s up to us to protect our ecosystems and communities from toxic chemicals.
Most of the 80,000 chemicals on the market in the United States have been put into use without testing long-term consequences for the environment, or their impacts on our health. We should make sure that any chemical in use is safe, eliminate those we know are dangerous, and stop using any that are damaging healthy ecosystems. And if an industry makes a toxic mess, we should know right away, and they should be the ones to pay for cleaning it up.

NJDEP Proposes Advanced Clean Truck Rule To Electrify Diesel Trucks & Dump Dirty Diesel
The NJ Department of Environmental Protection proposed the Advanced Clean Truck rule, one of the many regulations stemming from the NJ Protecting Against Climate Threats intiative. This rule will be an electric truck mandate first adopted by California last year and will apply to all vehicle classes of trucks, including everything from delivery vans to tractor trailers. It is a zero-emissions sales requirement, placed on the manufacturer, that starts in model year 2025 and slowly increases each year through model year 2035.

RGGI Delivers: NJEDA Awards $12 Million To A Diesel Truck Voucher Program In First Step To Electrify Trucks on NJ Roads
Trenton - The NJ Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) announced that it will use approximately $15.75 million from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) auction proceedings to fund a medium-duty zero-emission truck voucher program. This program will incentivize commercial and industrial entities to purchase medium-duty electric vehicles with vouchers of up to 100% of the incremental cost of the vehicles. NJEDA specified that this program is only a pilot, and is currently limited to vehicle classes 2b-6, with a specific focus on vehicles operating within overburdened communities, specifically the greater Newark and greater Camden areas.
NJDEP Commits to Adopt Advanced Clean Truck Rule To Electrify Truck Fleet In Next Two Decades
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) announced it will propose adopting California’s Advanced Clean Truck rule in April as part of the Protecting Against Climate Threats (NJPACT) stakeholder process. The Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) rule is a sales requirement that would start in Model Year 2025 and would ratchet up until Model Year 2035 to increase the sales of electric medium and heavy duty trucks.
Wasting Our Waterways Report Documents More Than 5.8 Million Pounds of Toxic Chemicals Dumped in NJ Waterways
Industrial facilities dumped 5,862,061 pounds of toxic chemicals into New Jersey’s waterways in 2012, making New Jersey’s waterways the 14th worst in the nation, according to a new report by Environment New Jersey Research & Policy Center. The Wasting Our Waterways report comes as the Environmental Protection Agency considers a new rule to restore Clean Water Act protections to thousands of waterways in New Jersey and across the nation.
