TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly placed their trust in Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the vast majority of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation to make good on promises to protect our environment.
“The results from last night show more New Jerseyeans than ever expect sincere leadership on climate-related issues from Washington. From High Point to Barnegat Bay, candidates who articulated inspired and achievable climate goals won in big ways,” said Environment New Jersey Director Doug O’Malley. “Clean renewable energy, clean air and water for our children and grandchildren, and corporate accountability for pollution united voters from across the political spectrum. Come January, the real work begins.”
Environment New Jersey endorsed and supported several candidates this year, from the Biden-Harris presidential ticket to re-elected Sen. Cory Booker and Reps. Mikie Sherrill, Andy Kim, and Tom Malinowski, freshman Congressmembers who showed us that their 2018 victories were no flukes.
“We are thrilled to see these incumbents win big. They all made good on their promises to put the health and wellbeing of our environment and our families first, and their constituents thanked them again with their votes. Take Congressman Kim, for example, knowing how thin the margin of his upset victory in 2018 was. We supported his campaign in 2018 and again in 2020 because we know he is the focused, common-sense environmental leader that New Jerseyans need in Congress now more than ever,” said O’Malley. “We are excited to continue our work with his office and all our Congressional members to clean up our water, protect the Jersey Shore from off-shore drilling, and accelerate our nation’s transition to using 100 percent renewable energy sources.”
