WASHINGTON — The House Ways and Means Committee released draft legislation today to update and extend critical incentives for renewable energy, including wind and solar, electric vehicles, energy storage and energy-efficient buildings.
Rob Sargent, Environment America’s Clean Energy program director, issued the following statement:
“We are encouraged to see the Committee listen to the voices of Americans from every part of the country demanding swift action to keep up the momentum on clean energy. We’re counting on legislative leaders to act on these important provisions before they adjourn for the year.
“The last decade has proven that clean energy can power our homes, businesses and industries — and has put America on the cusp of a dramatic shift away from polluting energy sources. But to continue this progress, it’s critical that we maintain the clean energy tax incentives.
“By making a comprehensive shift to clean energy, we can show the American people that we are serious about reducing the pollution that destabilizes our climate. For the sake of our health and the well-being of our communities, we need to immediately update and extend these important programs.”
