New York, NY- As the country grapples with the increasing impacts of climate change, today the House voted 234-185 to retain a provision in the National Defense Authorization Act that would require the Department of Defense to study the impacts of climate change on their operations.

Heather Leibowitz, Director of Environment New York, issued the following statement in response:

“With record-breaking heat in some parts of the country, wildfires and floods in others, climate change is a threat to all of our health and security. We’re pleased the House voted to recognize this threat and we will work to keep building support for the shift away from dirty fossil fuels that are causing the climate crisis.”
