Trump Administration lays groundwork for Arctic Refuge drilling plan

The Trump administration has started the process to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling. Tomorrow, the Department of Interior notice, detailing the Bureau of Land Management’s plan to implement an oil and gas leasing program, will be posted in the Federal Register, beginning a 60-day public comment period.

Importantly, what’s not in the bill is just as important as what is in it. While it’s not a perfect bill, it’s significantly better than it could have been. The Senate should now approve it. Eastern Coastal Mayors and Elected Leaders Oppose Offshore Drilling, Urge Greater Protection of Our Oceans

Today, dozens of local elected leaders from up and down the East Coast sent the Trump administration and Congress a letter urging them to protect the Atlantic Ocean  and our coasts from threats including offshore drilling. The Trump Administration recently proposed both opening U.S. coastal waters to drilling and rolling back rules that prevent oil spills.

President Trump’s budget: more pollution, fewer protections for Americans

President Trump’s proposed fiscal year 2019 budget dramatically cuts critical environmental and health programs. The proposed budget reduces the Environmental Protection Agency budget by 23 percent and the Department of Interior budget by 16 percent.
