Tell FedEx to go solar on its warehouses
FedEx owns and operates more than 5,000 facilities with thousands of acres of rooftop space, but has not publicly announced a goal or plan to install solar on those roofs.
Residential solar systems make up 97 percent of solar installations in the United States.
Data released by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) shows that the United States has officially exceeded five million solar installations. This milestone comes just eight years after the U.S. reached one million installations in 2016. It took 40 years to get to 1 million installations after the first grid-connected solar installation came online in 1973.
“Every sunny roof without solar panels is a missed opportunity,” said Johanna Neumann, Senior Director of the Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy at Environment America Research & Policy Center.
More than half of U.S. solar installations came online since the start of 2020 and more than 25 percent have come online since the Inflation Reduction Act became law just 20 months ago, according to SEIA.
