The issues and initiatives Environment Oregon takes on are critical
Dennis Johnson
Member, Environment Oregon
I grew up surrounded by nature, in Big Sky Country—more formally, in Great Falls, Montana. As a kid I was a boy scout and I spent a lot of time outdoors, which sparked my interest in the environment. I live near downtown Portland now, but I still love the outdoors. I hike and walk, frequenting Portland’s Forest Park, and I also enjoy reading and sports, the symphony and the theatre. The first time I felt I had to take action on an issue, I participated in a peaceful Vietnam War protest, and later I became involved with OSPIRG as a charter member, which led me to Environment Oregon. I met Environment Oregon’s Alex Pincus, a development associate, and when I saw how passionate he was about the organization, I knew I had to get involved. The issues and initiatives Environment Oregon takes on are critical, both for understanding and combating climate change, and I’m proud to be a member.
