DENVER, Colorado — Environment America Action Fund announced Tuesday that it is endorsing five U.S. Representatives for the 2024 elections in Pennsylvania: U.S. Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, Mary Gay Scanlon, Madeleine Dean, Susan Wild, and Matt Cartwright. This bipartisan slate of lawmakers includes elected officials with a history of working to improve the environment both in Pennsylvania and across the United States.
Brian Fitzpatrick is a leader on bipartisan conservation efforts, from tackling plastic pellet pollution as a cosponsor of the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act (H.R. 7634) to protecting wildlife. Fitzpatrick has voted against legislation to reverse clean car standards, cut clean water funding and dramatically expand drilling. He has cosponsored pieces of strong environmental legislation, such as the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act of 2018 (H.R. 7173) to establish a carbon tax, as well as the PROTECT Act of 2023 (H.R. 6834) to address hazardous air pollution from PFAS “forever” chemicals. His advocacy for climate action is powerful and principled, so Environment America Action Fund is endorsing Fitzpatrick for PA-01.
Mary Gay Scanlon is another bipartisan champion for conservation. She has supported a number of green bills, from the Ensure Funding for Our Environment Act (H.R. 7204) to the Safeguarding Domestic Energy Production and Independence Act (H.R. 4576) to establish a renewable fuel credit. For her leadership in this area, Environment America Action Fund is endorsing Mary Gay Scanlon for PA-05.
Madeline Dean is a constant leader on environmental issues. She introduced the PFAS Accountability Act of 2023 (H.R. 7194) as well as cosigned the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act (H.R. 7634), and so she is a powerful advocate against the proliferation of hazardous pollutants. Therefore, Environment America Action Fund will be endorsing her for re-election in PA-06.
Susan Wild is a strong environmental advocate who stands for Environment America Action Fund’s values. She worked to permanently fund our nation’s best conservation and recreation program, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and leads her colleagues in finding practical climate solutions via her role as co-chair of a climate change task force. As a result, Environment America Action Fund is endorsing Susan Wild for PA-07.
Matt Cartwright is a champion of conservation. Serving in both the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition Caucus and the Climate Solutions Caucus, Cartwright has made implementing environmental legislation one of his main goals. He introduced the Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act of 2014 (H.R. 4092) and is an original cosponsor of the Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals Act of 2023 (H.R. 4785), bills that enable retrofitting at schools and establish protections against fracking, respectively. Therefore, Environment America Action Fund is endorsing Matt Cartwright in the PA-08 race.
Environment America Action Fund works to protect our environment by supporting candidates for public office who champion clean air, clean water, wilderness preservation, and strong action to prevent global warming. The Environment America Action Fund is a part of the Environment America family of organizations.
