PennEnvironment hosts frack-free home tour
While PennEnvironment is advocating for policies at the federal, state and local level to get us off of dirty fossil fuels and working towards 100% renewable energy, we’re also educating Pennsylvanians about the steps we can all take in our everyday lives to move the nation on a path to a clean energy future.
On May 15, PennEnvironment teamed up with long-time environmental activist and nationally known entrepreneur and activist Judy Wicks to tour her Center City Philadelphia home, which she converted to a fossil fuel-free house.
During the tour, Judy showed visitors how she converted her gas appliances— including her gas stove and water heater—to electric appliances. And Micah Gold-Markel, Founder of the Philadelphia-based company Solar States showed attendees the solar panels that his company put on Judy’s roof and talked about the environmental and economic impacts of going solar.
“It was incredibly informative and invigorating to see the steps Judy has taken to make her house a fossil fuel-free home,” said PennEnvironment’s Flora Cardoni. “It was a clear reminder that we have the tools and technology at our fingertips to tackle climate change and promote clean energy solutions.”
