Victory! Radnor Township has banned plastic bags…

New township policy could eliminate 66 tons of plastic annually

On August 15th, the Radnor Board of Commissioners (Delaware County) voted 5-1 to ban single-use plastic bags in the Township. They’ve become the 10th municipality to tackle plastic bags in Pennsylvania and are the 4th largest to do so to date. 

We estimate that over 12 million single-use plastic bags are used by Radnor residents EVERY YEAR, and that this ordinance could help reduce 66 tons of plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills, incinerators, or in our environment. The Board of Commissioners also included a $0.10 fee for paper and other bags that stores give customers to encourage residents to bring their own reusable bags and cut down on trash.
