Congressman Boyle, PA State Representative Bellmon, Exact Solar, and ASPIRA faculty and staff unveil their new solar array.

ASPIRA Cyber Charter School in North Philadelphia unveiled a new solar array that powers their closed-loop and off-grid aquaponics system. Daniel Pompile, a teacher at ASPIRA and mastermind behind the school’s solar-powered farm, had this to share about the project:

“We need to reduce our carbon footprint, we need to make this as clean as possible. And it’s a better education opportunity for the students. They actually get to come out here and see this. And I show them on a laptop what’s happening with that energy… actually shows [it] going to the batteries or the equipment. It’s starting to click and they start going ‘Well how much sunlight turns into [energy]?’ then they’re starting to learn math and they’re learning science…. It basically gets kids back outside.”
