Every year, millions of monarch butterflies complete the longest migration of any insect species known to science. It’s one of nature’s truly spectacular feats. But the triple threats of habitat loss, global warming and increased use of toxic pesticides are jeopardizing these monarchs’ very existence.

With more and more experts sounding the alarm on the existential threats facing these iconic pollinators, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other decision-makers need to step up by recognizing monarchs as endangered and giving them the protections they need.
