This Right whale mother who defied the odds could have just been spotted alive for the last time.

Off and on over the last year and a half, the North Atlantic Right whale named Snow Cone has been tangled in fishing gear that is cutting into her flesh and weighing her down in the water. When she was last spotted this September, she appeared extremely weak — and researchers now fear she’s nearing death, pushing her critically endangered species ever closer to extinction.

We’re working to win protections that would keep these whales back from the brink of extinction. Will you donate to help power our campaigns and protect Right whales?
