New year, new clean energy funding opportunities! Read on to find out if your community is eligible.

Funding Opportunities

Clean Energy Technology Deployment on Tribal Lands: $20,000,000 for Native American tribal governments to implement clean energy, storage, and energy efficiency and/or install integrated energy systems to power tribal facilities during emergency situations or improve community resilience. Due February 9th, 2023

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program: $550,000,000 available to assist states, local governments, and tribes that upgrade energy efficiency, reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions. Funding is available until expended. The DOE is holding educational webinars for each eligible entity (state, local government, and tribes) about the EECBG program:

Cleaner Cooking and Reducing Household Energy Emissions: $3,000,000 of funding available to reduce emissions from household energy use in low- and middle-income countries with the overall goal of improving climate, environment, health, gender equity, and overall livelihoods. Eligible for states, local governments, U.S. territories, Indian tribes, international organizations, and other public or private non-profit institutions. Applications due February 28th, 2023.

Preventing Outages and Enhancing the Resilience of the Electric Grid Grants: $5,000,000,000 for eligible entities, states, and tribes to prevent outages and enhance electric grid reliability. Eligibility includes electric grid operators, electricity storage operators, electricity generators, transmission owners and operators, distribution providers, fuel suppliers, states, and tribes. Applications due March 31st, 2023.

The Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program: $30,000,000 available for community-based nonprofits working on local environmental and/or public health issues. This program aims to address these problems by building collaborative partnerships with local stakeholders. Applications due April 10th, 2023.

Environmental Justice Government-to-Government Program: $70,000,000 available for government activities that lead to significant environmental or public health impacts in communities disproportionately affected by environmental harms. Applications due April 10th, 2023. 

Building Codes Implementation for Efficiency and Resilience: $225,000,000 of grants available for states and state partnerships to implement updated building energy codes to save customers money on their energy bills, reduce emissions, and encourage more resilient buildings. Eligible applications must include a relevant state agency, and priority will be given to applications with strategic partnerships, such as those with local building code agencies, codes and standards developers, and many others. Funding available until expended.
