Over 80 Representatives call for no new offshore drilling leasing
Members of the House of Representatives speak out to protect our coast from dirty, dangerous drilling
Leasing more of our ocean for offshore drilling is a dirty, dangerous idea that would put our ocean life, coastal ecosystems and our climate at risk for decades to come.
That’s why we were glad that 83 Members of the House of Representatives, in a recent letter, urged the Biden administration to issue no new leases for drilling off our coast.
The letter was highlighted by a House Natural Resource Committee tweet during a hearing on a related bill:
25% of U.S. carbon emissions come from fossil fuels extracted from #PublicLands & waters.
