House committee hearing on a wildlife corridors bill

The House Natural Resources Committee heard and discussed a bill about wildlife migration. At least on this day, it was all positive.

Animals migrate with the seasons and move around on a daily basis. But too often our feats of engineering and ingenuity — roads, cities, strip malls, fences, farms, etc. — create obstacles and hazards for wildlife.

A bipartisan bill in the U.S. House (Reps. Zinke and Beyer) would conserve, restore and enhance wildlife habitat, migration routes and connectivity. You can read more about it here.

The Wildlife Movement Through Partnerships Act had its first hearing in the House Natural Resources Committee on Sept. 10 and was by all accounts well-received by the committee members on both sides of the aisle.

Yes, it’s late in an election year, and yes, members of Congress are distracted by November, but this important wildlife bill is still moving. That’s good news for all creatures, including the pronghorn in the photo above.
