How fast is renewable energy growing across America? And what can people do at the state level to accelerate its growth?
On Sept. 21, Environment America Research & Policy Center hosted a webinar that provided answers to both questions. Entitled “Uniting States for 100% Renewable Energy,” nearly 200 people learned that 1 in 3 Americans now live in a state committed to reaching 100% zero-carbon electricity — and multiple opportunities exist to expand upon or expedite these commitments.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see renewable energy on the rise across America,” said Johanna Neumann, senior director of our Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy.
Johanna was joined by Stanford University Prof. Mark Jacobson; Chris Abhulime, deputy chief of staff to Gov. Dan McKee (R.I.); state Sen. John Laird (Calif.); Adam Schultz, of the Oregon Department of Energy; Tony Dutzik, a senior policy analyst with Frontier Group; Laura Deehan, state director of Environment California Research & Policy Center; and Ben Hellerstein, state director of Environment Massachusetts Research & Policy Center.
