Renewable energy continued to surge in America in the first quarter of 2022. During the first quarter of 2022, renewable energy sources provided a whopping 97.4% of new domestic electrical generating capacity and 24.4% of actual generation.
Fully, 100% of the new electricity generation capacity brought online in the United States in March 2022, came from renewable energy sources. Date from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) indicates that 1,418 MW of new wind capacity came online in March and solar accounted for 240 MW that month.
“This isn’t happening by accident, or strictly due to market forces,” tweeted Susan Rakov, chair of Environment America Research and Policy Center’s clean energy program. “State policies made the development of renewable energy a priority, and guess what? It’s working.”
Every rooftop built without a solar panel is a missed opportunity to tap into a clean, renewable energy source that doesn't pollute our communities or threaten the future of our planet. Will you stand with us in support of rooftop solar across the nation?
Together we can protect the wild places that make America special, and stand up for the wildlife that call these places home. You can make the difference.
